Job Description:
Position requires the individual to take an integrated system from concept through installation. The integrated system contains some combination of ground surveillance radars, thermal imaging cameras, underwater sensors, line sensors, command and control software, platforms and any necessary interface equipment. The systems can be single location type or multiple consecutive site locations. The systems can be either fixed or mobile applications. Installation locations are all over the world and travel is a major part of the job. Site Surveys and site design as well as system design are required to be completed by this position. Types of locations include, but are not limited to, airports, power plants, country borders, sea ports and the like and are often very remote. Integrated systems are generally made up of subsystems designed and produced by FLIR, but also include subsystems from other companies. The job requires taking the conceptual design from the contract, ordering all the required subsystems and integrated assemblies, integrating the system together, configuring software and testing the system prior to shipment. Additionally, the position requires the project manager to be responsible for the installation and test of the equipment and handover to the customer. Customer training after system acceptance is also often required. The employee may also handle problem/issues with the system for some period of time after the handover to the customer and the FLIR service organization. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develops of initial system design concept through final design specification for all assigned FLIR integrated systems. 2. Responsible for project management including project cost and schedule. 3. Interfaces with customer from project kickoff through system signoff. 4. Conducts site surveys and field evaluations. 5. Conducts factory acceptance tests (FAT) for all assigned integrated systems prior to shipment of system from FLIR facility. 6. Conducts both installation and commissioning of equipment and repair of installed equipment at customer facilities. 7. Interfaces and drives projects with FLIR business units – Radar, Camera, Software, IS. 8. Responsible for ITAR compliance and communication with the customer. 9. Develops standard repair and maintenance procedures for individual sites which will be documented to company standards. 10. Responsible for training of customer personnel in the operation and maintenance of FLIR systems equipment (will partner with training group on development of technical content of training package). 11. Responsible for customer acceptance tests (CAT) and customer system signoff typically conducted at customer facility. 12. May be involved with development of technical content for system proposals in support of the business development group.
Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline: Engineering or Computer Science preferred • 5 years similar work experience minimum • Strong project management skill set required • Must have a can do attitude and be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done; non-standard work hours, weather conditions, site locations and physical labor are frequently encountered. • Excellent systems evaluation and trouble shooting skills • Must be capable of effectively reporting project status to executive management • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including (word, excel, power point and project) • Strong interpersonal and communications skills • Must be able to work independently as well as with different levels of management and staff, both internally and externally • Ability to travel 50 to 75% of the time on short notice both domestic and international Preferred Skills/Experience: • Systems engineering knowledge and experience • Specialized radar, infrared, thermal imaging or wireless communications knowledge/experience • Command & control software knowledge/experience • Experience managing projects for military customers
